General Assistantship (2248-2024)

Qualifications

Must be enrolled in a graduate humanities or social science program at SIUE. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an office or community setting. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Reliable transportation to the Belleville campus, as needed. Previous experience in public humanities or community outreach is a plus. Having significant coursework in Black studies is also a plus.

Position Description

The graduate assistant will work with the Director of the Institute for Community Justice and Racial Equity. The GA will assist with the engagement and coordination of campus and community programs, as well as, Universities Studying Slavery initiatives and SIUE’s Children’s Defense Fund Freedom Schools program, hosted at SIUE in the summer of 2025. In this role, the GA will be involved with program development, community engagement events, data input, and web page development. GA will perform other duties as needed.
