Current High School Students - Conditional Entry Program Eligibility Requirements
Incoming freshmen who wish to be considered for the CEP must meet one of the minimum eligibility requirements outlined below.
Minimum Eligibility Criteria:
Must have a ≥ 3.50 high school GPA (4.0 scale) verified through official transcripts OR
ACT Score ≥ 27 OR
SAT Score ≥ 1260
(Official test scores must be submitted at time of application but no later than January 17th if high school GPA < 3.5)
Application & Selection Process
The Meridian Scholars Program deadline has passed. We are still interested in learning about your desire to participate in the CEP program with the SIUE School of Pharmacy. All eligible high school students who did not apply for CEP through the Meridian Scholars Program are welcome to apply before January 17th, 2025.
Complete the following steps to be considered for the incoming Fall 2025 CEP cohort.
STEP 1:
- Apply for undergraduate admission to SIUE.
STEP 2:
- Once you have received your student ID number (800#), use this link to apply for the final step in the CEP application.
Unlike the Meridian Scholars Program, the CEP is an early assurance program and not a scholarship program.
Timeline for post-application completion:
- January - Selected applicants will be notified and receive an invitation to interview with the School of Pharmacy
- February* - Interviews will be conducted on a designated Saturday at the School of Pharmacy
- March - Top candidates will receive a formal invitation to participate in the CEP
- May 1st - Deadline to achieve minimum enrollment criteria and to accept and return the CEP Agreement Form
- May - July - Attend a Springboard session at SIUE
- August - Classes begin
* Candidates who applied for the SIUE School of Pharmacy CEP program through the Meridian Scholars program may be invited to interview for the Meridian Scholars Program/Scholarship. If invited for an interview for the Meridian Scholars Program, we will use this interview as your CEP program interview. Those candidates not invited to interview for Meridian Scholars Program will be interviewed on February 22, 2025.
* Candidates who applied after December 6th and who are invited to interview for the CEP program only will be interviewed on February 22, 2025.
Conditional Entry Enrollment Criteria
A plan to meet the criteria outlined below must be communciated to the School of Pharmacy no later than May 1, 2025 to enroll in the CEP.
For fall 2025 freshmen who are offered conditional entry, students must have a plan to meet Math, Chemistry, and English placements for fall 2025.
⇒ Placement in MATH 125: Precalculus Mathematics with Trigonometry or higher-level mathematics course. Calculus placement is preferred. If a minimum MATH 125 placement is not achieved, students should consider a three-year path in the conditional entry program.
MATH 125 placement can be earned in one of the following ways:
- Minimum Advanced Placement (AP) test score of 3 for Calculus AB or Calculus BC
- Minimum ALEKS (math placement test) score of 61 for Pre-Calculus; score of 76 for Calculus
- Minimum grade of C in dual credit course offered through a regionally accredited college/university equivalent to MATH 120: College Algebra
⇒ Placement in CHEM 121/125A: General Chemistry 1. If a minimum CHEM 121/125A placement is not achieved, students should consider a three-year path in the conditional entry program.
CHEM 121/125A placement can be earned in one of the following ways:
- Minimum ALEKS (math placement test) score of 61 or higher OR
- Chemistry Readiness Exam (CRE) Score >= 39 OR 34 – 38 with 17+ CRE math subscore OR
- C or higher in CHEM 113 (Intro to Chemistry) AND Math 120 (College Algebra) or higher by start of fall 2022 semester
⇒ Placement in ENG 101: English Composition I for fall 2023 as this course is required the first semester of the conditional entry program.
ENG 101 placement can be earned via one of the following ways:
- Minimum ACT subscore of 18 for English and 20 for reading OR
- Minimum SAT subscores of 26 for writing and language and reading OR
- Minimum Advanced Placement (AP) test score of 3 for English Language and Composition OR
- Minimum International Baccalaureate (IB) test score of 4 for English A: Language and Literature OR
- Minimum SIUE placement test score of 237 for writing and 250 for reading OR
- Minimum grade of C in dual credit course offered through a regionally accredited college/university equivalent to ENG 101
ALL minimum enrollment criteria must be achieved in order to secure place in the required classes.
Students who do not meet communicate their plan to meet enrollment criteria by May 1, 2025 will not be eligible to participate in the CEP. However, they are encouraged to continue in their Pre-Pharmacy studies and apply for admission to the PharmD program via the traditional method of application.
The School of Pharmacy Office of Professional & Student Affairs will communicate with those students whose CEP enrollment is affected and provide guidance on the steps to take for a continued path into pharmacy school.
