Favorite Things About SIUE
I love the collegiate atmosphere of a college campus, especially at SIUE. It's absolutely stunning in the fall with its beautiful leaves. I love to walk around and use the trails, and while doing so, feel grateful that SIUE is ranked amongst one of the safest campuses.
Hobbies
I like to travel. I've taught in Germany, visited New Zealand, and lived and taught in Spain for a year. I've visited many National parks in the US; the Grand Canyon, Sequoia in California), and Yellowstone are my favorite. I love being outdoors whether that's hiking with my boyfriend, camping, biking, swimming, I love it all! I love reading, cooking, and doing yoga.
Advice for College Search
My advice as having taught high school and middle school students, is to really think about who you are in a holistic way. Are you shy or outgoing? How do you learn? Do you like individualized attention or do you thrive in a more hands-off experience? How does your degree or school of choice make you competitive? Do you prefer for your professor to know you by name and funnel you into personalized experiences and internships? SIUE is a mid-sized competitive, university located 20-30 minutes from St. Louis. In Illinois you have two large metropolitan areas, Chicago and St. Louis. Being located near a region where you have world-class connections makes a big difference in your education; it helps make you competitive to your future employers. Our teachers are experts in their field and connected to those world-class companies and resources in our area. SIUE gives you a safe, accessible city to study in, while being close to incredible resources.
