Admitted students who are unable to arrive on campus at the start of the term for which they were admitted may request an automatic deferral to the next available semester. Students must make this request in writing no later than 60 days after the start of the semester. Students may be required to submit new financial statements to update their I-20 or DS-2019 documents. Students who need to defer for more than one semester may be required to reapply to their academic department for an updated admission decision. Email intladm@siue.edu to request a deferral.

Early Application Deadlines for Scholarship consideration:

Early applications are encouraged, and students planning to apply for certain competitive scholarships must apply early to receive consideration.

• To be eligible for the Meridian Scholarship, undergraduate students must have a completed admission application on file by November 1. Please review additional requirements.
• To be eligible to receive an invitation for the Competitive Graduate Award, graduate students must apply by December 1 for the Fall 2025 semester. Please review additional requirements. 

Priority Deadlines for International Students in STEM and Business Programs:

The priority deadline for Spring 2025 is October 1, and for Fall 2025 is April 1. SIUE may not process undergraduate or graduate applications from students outside the U.S. after these dates.  This deadline applies to programs in STEM or Business related fields, including Information Systems, Computer Science, Biology, Chemistry, and all engineering disciplines.   Prospective students should apply before the priority deadline to receive full consideration.

All other applications are processed on a rolling basis and once seats are filled for a particular program in a particular term, additional applicants may be denied admission. 

Transfer students:

Later deadlines may apply for students who are currently in the United States on a valid student visa and wish to transfer to SIUE. Please contact the Office of International Admissions for more information.

Prospective students should submit an application by the priority deadline to guarantee full consideration.  All STEM designated program applications will close at the priority deadline.  Applications received after the priority deadline, but before the final deadline, will be reviewed only if space remains available in the program of study. Financial documents must be submitted by the financial deadline to receive an I-20. 

Summer term is only available for Intensive English Pathway (IEP) students. If you wish to apply for a summer start with the IEP please contact the office of international admissions at intladm@siue.edu.
