Learning Living Communities (LLC)
Each Learning Living Community (LLC) at SIUE has been established to enhance the learning experiences of residential students outside the classroom. Whether it be through an academic or developmental approach, LLCs at SIUE are improving the lives of many residential students.
University Housing believes that because our students are spending many hours outside the classroom, it is important to engage them in experiences that will promote academic success, acclimate them to the University, and connect them with peers who have shared interests. LLCs bring academics into the living environment by incorporating faculty interaction through our Faculty Fellows program, on-site classes in our “smart classroom,” and communities focused on interest and academic major. LLCs provide residents with various opportunities for connection and social interaction and create a sense of belonging to both SIUE and their community.
Advantages of LLCs at SIUE
- Enhanced academic and social opportunities
- The chance to form bonds with faculty members outside of the classroom through ongoing interaction
- Opportunity to live with other students who share similar interests and ambitions
- Increased satisfaction with SIUE and the overall college experience
- Creation of lifelong friendships and connections
