Three SIUE Women’s Tennis Players Tabbed All-OVC
Three SIUE women's tennis players earned All-Ohio Valley Conference honors Wednesday, including Amelia Gorman as the league's Player of the Year.
Gorman became the second SIUE player in school history to be named the league's Player of the Year after Jill Lambrechts(2022). Gorman was tabbed first team All-OVC and as one half of an All-OVC doubles team with Stefaniya Anikina.
Margaux Guibal Britt also joined Anikina on the All-OVC second team.
Gorman leads the Cougars with a 21-5 singles record. Guibal Britt played No. 2 singles for the season and holds an 11-10 record. Anikina went perfect during the regular season in singles at 13-0, playing at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
Anikina stepped into the No. 1 doubles position with Gorman midseason, and the duo went 7-0, including a 5-0 mark in OVC play.
The postseason begins Thursday for the Cougars at the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. Fourth-seeded SIUE faces fifth-seeded Lindenwood in a noon match at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis. SIUE is the defending champion.
