New revised Add/Drop registration process
We are happy to announce an update to SIUE's registration process beginning this Spring 2025. This revised Add/Drop process for the first two weeks of the term is designed to simplify registration, provide students with greater flexibility and reduce administrative burdens for faculty and staff.
What’s Changing?
- Week 1 (Streamlined Add/Drop Process)
- Students will be able to add open courses via CougarNet until Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 11:59 PM CST (sixth day of the term)
- For closed courses, students can add the course with your permission by completing an Add/Drop Form
- Students will also have the ability to drop courses via CougarNet without permission during this time
- Week 2 (Guided Adds and Extended Drop Period)
- Students can continue to drop courses via CougarNet until Friday, January 24, 2025, at 11:59 PM CST (tenth day of the term)
- Adding courses during Week 2 will require students to complete an Add/Drop Form, which must be approved by you as the instructor and the department chair
- Beyond Week 2
- Standard policies for course changes and withdrawals will apply as usual
How Does This Benefit You?
- Time Savings
- Allowing students to self-manage their schedules during Week 1 significantly reduces the administrative load of processing schedule changes for open courses
- Improved Organization
- The clear structure for Week 2 ensures that any necessary approvals are handled in a manageable and systematic way
- Enhanced Student Success
- With greater flexibility during the first two weeks, students can better adjust their schedules to align with their academic needs, leading to more engaged and prepared learners in your courses
What to Expect
- Automated Communication
- For courses with waitlists, instructors will receive an email before the term begins with a list of waitlisted students and room capacity
- This information will help you manage enrollment decisions efficiently
