University Housing Facilities Management (UHFM)
UHFM is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the safety and comfort of all University Housing facilities. This includes repairing housing units, maintaining the grounds, performing snow removal, cleaning common areas and offices, managing pest control and much more.
Maintenance Requests
Residents can submit maintenance requests for their housing unit or common areas (like the fitness room, hallways, or lounges). UHFM reviews and handles requests Monday - Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and updates are sent via SIUE email.
Non-Emergency Maintenance Requests Include:
- Adjusting bed height
- Fixing leaks
- Replacing light bulbs
Emergencies
If you smell gas, experience flooding or encounter any issue that poses immediate danger to people or property, please follow these steps:
- Contact your RA on duty immediately. If you can't reach them, contact your residence hall front desk or Cougar Village Commons to reach the RA on duty.
- Examples of emergency issues: Overflowing toilet, no AC in the summer, no heat in the winter, no hot water, refrigerator not cooling or any serious water leak.
During Business Hours (7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.): Call University Housing Facilities Management at 618-650-3626.
After Hours or Immediate Emergency: Call Campus Police at 618-650-3324 if there is a safety risk.
Severe Weather Protocol
In the event of a tornado or other severe weather, a long, wavering siren will sound. Immediately proceed to a secure area such as a hallway or bathroom, away from windows. If already in a safe space, crouch low, cover your head, and use available items like mattresses or blankets for extra protection from debris.
